All Nations Outreach Center. This partnering ministry provides facility for many of the Neighborhood Transformation meetings and activities. They work closely with the local elementary school, investing in children through a variety of venues.

Mission Tampa partners in Neighborhood Transformation with a variety of activities. This is MT, Grace Martial Arts class, where 10 Sulphur Springs youth have been given scholarships to participate.

Operation Blessing provided funds to purchase this van to transport families and children to Neighborhood Transformation activities. Mike Copple, director of Mission Tampa oversees the use of the van.

Here is a home that will benefit from “Carefest” volunteers in property improvements.

Changing Communities one Family at a Time

Family mentoring begins in Sulphur Springs.

Purpose

To provide facilitation and mobilization of the unified body of Christ for Neighborhood Transformation, in Jesus name. To build on the strengths of a community and commit to trusting relationships with local citizens.

Partners

Currently Somebody Cares Tampa Bay is partnered with several ministries in Sulphur Springs to see this mission take form. Many churches and community organizations are cooperating with Somebody Cares Tampa Bay to expand the love of Christ to the neighborhood and families of Sulphur Springs in real and practical ways.

Progress

This new initiative will begin with a family mentoring program. Volunteers from local ministries and churches will be matched with citizens in Sulphur Springs that have a desire to see authentic change in their lives and families. Volunteer teams are being recruited that will have relationship with one family over a one year period prioritizing goals, taking action and overcoming previous obstacles to desired outcomes.

Training for volunteer mentors have begun and will be ongoing. Mentor matching is in progress. Mentors will meet with families in their homes. Strengths and needs will be assessed and addressed.

The partnering ministries will be offering programs to the participating families such as:

Discipleship in Christ
Food supplementation
GED classes
Health & Wellness classes
Martial Arts classes
Minor Emergency Utility Funds
Parenting classes
School supplies
Sports programs
Teen Programs
Tutoring
