Raise the Roof
What is Raise the Roof?
The goal of Raise the Roof is to expose the general community to the Good News of Jesus Christ. The event is typically held in conjunction with a professional sporting event as a way to attract people who would not normally attend a Christian concert. For the normal price of admission to the game, the ticket holder also gets admission to the Raise the Roof concert as well as local Christian entertainment outside the arena between the concert and the game.
The Raise the Roof venue includes two or more popular Christian music groups, testimonies by local and national celebrities and athletes, and a gospel presentation along with an opportunity to dedicate or rededicate your life to Christ. In addition, Somebody Cares Tampa Bay raises money to sponsor underprivileged children to attend the event. These children are from families that could not afford to attend an event like this. We provide them a chance to get out of their normal environment for the day, and expose them to Christian music and a positive message. If you are interseted in information about sponsoring children to Raise the Roof, (temporarily unavailable) download a sponsorship form. Raise the Roof is a great opportunity for the “Body of Christ” to come together in unity and live out our commission given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ; to “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel unto everyone.“
The first Raise the Roof was held in August 1999 at Tropicana Field before a Devil Rays baseball game. Rebecca St. James was the headline artist. The following year, Michael W. Smith attracted a crowd of 16,000. In 2001, the event moved to the Ice Palace and featured four-time Dove award winner Nicole C. Mullen and the hot new group, TrueVibe. The Tampa Bay Storm received an award from the arena football league for best group event for Raise the Roof. Since then Raise the Roof has continued to be a success and a blessing to all involved.
Raise the Roof 2006
