“Thank you so much for the blessing you gave to so many of the missionary families living on the grounds at D&D Missionary Homes. Out of 60 tickets requested 55 had been in attendance and everyone was touched and blessed by your generosity. Everyone in attendance had a marvelous time (even if the Rays did lose) Thank you again for your labor of love to so many.” - God’s Richest Blessings, Marianne.

“Thank you for the tickets to the speeches and the game I really enjoyed them both very much. The speaker’s moved me very much and opened my eyes to different things. The music was also very good. The type of music was new to me but I really liked it. When Shaun put talking to use I somewhat related to things and ways of his own. The picture that he drew was out of this world. One bad thing that happened was the baseball game. I was really upset about that. Back to back homeruns from the A’s. Oh well, Thanks again for the tickets.” – Andrew

Christ Like Ministries – “We here at Christlike indeed Thank you for your act of love to help our guys and kids. The light of God is shinning bright in their hearts, and smiles on their faces. Thank you so much.” – Ron

“Wow! What an exciting baseball game. I was really grateful to go, the concert before was really great too. This was the best outing that I’ve been to while in my program. Thank you for letting me participate at that event. While listening to the concert I was thinking to myself, wow I’ve never really heard this kind of music before, but I sure did enjoy it. It has made my week a whole lot better knowing that we can go to more exciting outings like the baseball game. Thank you very much for the great tickets.” – Brian

Raise the Roof

What is Raise the Roof?

The goal of Raise the Roof is to expose the general community to the Good News of Jesus Christ. The event is typically held in conjunction with a professional sporting event as a way to attract people who would not normally attend a Christian concert. For the normal price of admission to the game, the ticket holder also gets admission to the Raise the Roof concert as well as local Christian entertainment outside the arena between the concert and the game.

The Raise the Roof venue includes two or more popular Christian music groups, testimonies by local and national celebrities and athletes, and a gospel presentation along with an opportunity to dedicate or rededicate your life to Christ. In addition, Somebody Cares Tampa Bay raises money to sponsor underprivileged children to attend the event. These children are from families that could not afford to attend an event like this. We provide them a chance to get out of their normal environment for the day, and expose them to Christian music and a positive message. If you are interseted in information about sponsoring children to Raise the Roof, (temporarily unavailable) download a sponsorship form. Raise the Roof is a great opportunity for the “Body of Christ” to come together in unity and live out our commission given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ; to “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel unto everyone.“

History

The first Raise the Roof was held in August 1999 at Tropicana Field before a Devil Rays baseball game. Rebecca St. James was the headline artist. The following year, Michael W. Smith attracted a crowd of 16,000. In 2001, the event moved to the Ice Palace and featured four-time Dove award winner Nicole C. Mullen and the hot new group, TrueVibe. The Tampa Bay Storm received an award from the arena football league for best group event for Raise the Roof. Since then Raise the Roof has continued to be a success and a blessing to all involved.
