In 2006 Michele Bachmann emerged from state politics to become the first Republican woman from Minnesota elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. By her third term, she had become a national figure in the Republican Party and a founding member of the congressional Tea Party Caucus. Bachmann’s ambitious conservative agenda made her one of the most prominent opponents of the Barack Obama administration during her time in Congress and encouraged her bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.
Bachmann and her husband had five children and worked with a private foster care agency to house 23 children in their home in Stillwater, Minnesota, over the course of six years in the 1990s. Bachmann’s five children were home-schooled and later attended private schools, and her political career stemmed from her interest in education reform. When she enrolled one of her children at a charter school, she took a position on the school’s board and collaborated with other like-minded parents and school administrators to emphasize the role of Christianity in American life throughout the curriculum. In December 1993, Bachmann resigned from the board after the state threatened to revoke the school’s charter.
Don Pope is a “Texas Tenor”, but not limited to one horn. He has a full rack of Woodwinds and can blow captivating solos from each and every horn.
After graduating from the Houston school of Performing and Visual Arts, Don went on to perform with musical groups including Archie Bell & the Drells and Toby Beau, before creating the group Don Pope and Friends, consisting of various musicians that come and go - great for a constant flow of new, fresh and sweet music. Don currently lives with his wife, Charlotte, in Willis, Texas. He has four grown children and three grandchildren. His son, Robert, is often found sharing the stage, as a guitar and bass player. As an ordained minister, Don has been on staff at Grace International Church in Willis for over 20 years, as an associate pastor and worship director. Many connections all over the globe have led to frequent traveling across the U.S. and other countries. He has ministered all over Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, and Germany, to name a few. What may have begun as just trips as a guest musician led to worship workshops, prophetic ministry, and speaking engagements. His favor continues to open doors for him to make a great impact on each city he visits.
